Well-maintained Quartz kitchen worktop

Care & Maintenance

If you have quartz worktops in your home, it’s important that you know how to care for them. Quartz worktops are popular for their elegant appearance as well as their durability. Of course, just like any other stone worktop, it’s important to take care of these surfaces. Proper care will keep these surfaces looking great for as long as possible. In the short term, it will help ensure that you enjoy the use of your worktops while they continue to look beautiful. In the long term, the quartz surfaces will add value to your home if you choose to sell.

Cleaning

Britannia Quartz worktops are highly resistant to common household stains due to their low porosity. For regular cleaning, use warm water and a drop of washing up liquid. Finish by rinsing the surface and drying it with kitchen paper or a cotton dish towel.

Stain Removal

Grease

Apply washing up liquid and rub with a wet sponge until the grease disappears. Rinse with warm water and dry.

Limescale

Rub with cleaning vinegar and a damp sponge. For persistent stains, use a diluted limescale remover, but do not leave it on the surface for more than two minutes. Rinse and dry.

Silicone

Remove silicone stains promptly to avoid permanent damage. Use a knife held horizontally to gently scrape off debris without scratching the surface. Then, rub with silicone remover and a damp sponge. Rinse with warm water and dry.

Ink

Pour a small amount of ethanol onto kitchen paper and gently rub the stain. Repeat if necessary. Rinse with warm water and dry.

Preventing Heat Damage

Britannia Quartz is moderately heat resistant, but avoid placing hot items directly on the surface to prevent discolouration. Use a table mat until utensils cool down.

General Guidelines

  • Do not polish the surface.
  • Avoid placing heavy loads on the worktop.
  • Rinse the surface thoroughly if using bleach cleaners, and do not leave them on for prolonged periods.
  • Do not leave water on the worktop for extended periods.

Warning

Never use acetone or solvents as cleaning products for your worktop. Avoid using tough scouring pads; instead, use wet kitchen paper or a microfibre cotton cloth.
